Boer War Interest - Effects of Captain H.A. Piggin
Two Zulu shields taken as the Battle of Mome Gorge, 10th June 1906, which was the final battle of the 'Zulu rebellion'. The larger one 71cm tall (not including stick of typical form), the smaller one 49cm tall is inscribed and dated to the reverse.
Two Assegais taken at the same time, one with a large head 51" overall, the other with a smaller head 5" on a long haft connected to the shaft by twisted leather. 54" overall.
A single edged clip-back bladed knife 6" engraved at the forte 'J. Rogers & Son, Norfolk St, Sheffield, England. White metal collar, chequered horn grip (a/f) in its brown leather sheath.
A 'Slouch' hat, brown felt with broad red pagri and ostrich plume, leather interior band 'Cornwell & Co., Cape Town', 'Real Russia Leather' exterior badge 'B.H' (Brabant Horse) together with label stating it was worn by Capt. H.A. Piggin during the Boer War - A scout with the Brabant Horse', plus related photographs.
