Imposing pair of Chinese sancai-glazed pottery temple or 'guardian' lions, in Ming style, male and female, each modelled seated, with a lion cub beneath left forepaw, the bodies entirely covered in lustrous emerald green, brown, and yellow glazes, detailed with deeply incised curly manes, a prominent urna on their foreheads, wearing belts with suspended bells and central lion mask, on a drapery-covered plinth and simulated 'table' base, 101cm high and 96cm high respectively (2)
